MASVINGO – A petty argument over a song turned fatal in Chivi this week, marking one of two separate stabbing murders that have again cast a grim spotlight on the deadly toll of unresolved disputes in Zimbabwe.

In the first incident, police confirmed the arrest of 26-year-old Malvin Nkomo from Tsvaringe Village, Chivi, for murder. According to national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the tragedy unfolded after a heated argument sparked by a song the victim was singing.

“The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife on the chest, stomach, and thigh,” Commissioner Nyathi stated. “The victim died on the spot.”  Follow & Share Our WhatsApp Channel

In a chillingly similar but unrelated case, police in Filabusi arrested Tafadzwa Ndlovu (34) in connection with a New Year’s Day murder. The incident occurred at Nkankezi 18A Village, Maduna, following a domestic altercation.

Investigations indicate that the suspect intervened to stop Stephen Ndlovu (34) from attacking his wife amid infidelity allegations. The confrontation escalated, culminating in the victim being stabbed in the stomach with a sharp object. Stephen Ndlovu succumbed to his injuries while being transported to hospital.

These back-to-back tragedies, arising from seemingly common conflicts, underscore a devastating failure to navigate disputes without violence. Authorities are urging the public to seek mediation and lawful avenues for conflict resolution, emphasizing that momentary anger can irrevocably shatter lives and families
