Finishing touches are being applied to the Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe ahead of its official opening on February 28, 2026. The stadium, which will serve as the home ground for Hardrock FC, a newly promoted team in the Premier Soccer League, is being constructed by businessman Shepherd Chahwanda in partnership with Prophet Walter Magaya . 


The Chahwanda Stadium is expected to be a game-changer for Zimbabwe's sports sector, potentially ending the country's reliance on foreign venues for international fixtures. The stadium has been designed to meet CAF Category 2 standards, allowing it to host CAF Champions League preliminary rounds, Confederation Cup matches, and other international games .  Follow us on our WhatsApp Channel

The stadium's official opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 28, 2026, and will be commissioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. With the stadium nearing completion, Zimbabwe is set to have a modern sports facility that will support the growth of football and other sports in the country .
