The Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) is facing allegations of failing to pay around 8,000 examiners who marked O' Level and A' Level papers. Despite the release of results, these examiners are still awaiting payment, with amounts varying by subject.

Most markers were reportedly due to receive at least US$400, including travel and subsistence allowances, after spending two weeks marking papers from December 7 to 22, 2025. According to a disgruntled examiner, payment rates differ by subject, with Business Studies markers earning US$1.80 per script and others earning between US$1 and US$1.20 per script.

ZIMSEC spokesperson Nicky Dhlamini confirmed that some examiners have not been paid but requested time to verify the details. This issue is not new, as examiners for other grades have faced similar difficulties in the past.

The examiners, who were stationed at various centers across the country, are still waiting for their payments. The delay has caused frustration among the examiners, who claim that ZIMSEC is no longer responding to their calls.
