A tragic road accident occurred in Chitungwiza on February 3, 2026, resulting in the death of a two-year-old boy and injuring two others. The incident involved a Mazda 323 driven by Forget Chamuzambara, 40, who allegedly fled the scene after hitting a 16-year-old girl walking along the roadside.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Chamuzambara lost control of the vehicle while fleeing and crashed through the gate of a residential property. The car struck three people, including a 75-year-old woman and two children, who were sitting near the gate. The two-year-old boy died at the scene, and the woman and the other child sustained serious head injuries.

The ZRP confirmed the incident and reported that Chamuzambara was arrested at the scene. The boy's body was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination, and the three injured victims were admitted to Chitungwiza Hospital for treatment.

This incident raises concerns about road safety and the responsibilities of drivers. Hit-and-run incidents are particularly egregious, as they demonstrate a lack of accountability and compassion for the victims.
