Police in Bulawayo are investigating a kidnapping case involving a four-month-old baby girl who went missing in the New Parklands suburb. Bulawayo Provincial Police Spokesperson Nomalanga Msebele said the incident traces back to December 27, 2025, when the baby's 26-year-old mother saw a post on a WhatsApp channel called Idale labomama, advertising assistance with children's clothing. The mother contacted the number provided and began communicating with an unknown woman who identified herself only as MaNdlovu from Cowdray Park. The suspect offered to deliver baby clothes and was given directions to the mother's residence. On December 29, 2025, at around 6 AM, the suspect sent a message confirming she would deliver the clothes that day. At approximately 1 PM, she instructed the mother to wait at the corner of Harare Road and Cecil Avenue in Parklands to collect them.

The mother left home with one of her twins, leaving the four-month-old baby asleep in the bedroom and her four-year-old child playing outside, and proceeded to the meeting point. After waiting for about 15 minutes, she received a message claiming that another person, only identified as Lo, had been sent. That person never arrived. When the mother returned home, she discovered that the baby was missing and immediately reported the matter to the police.
 Police Appeal
The police are appealing to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect or the recovery of the baby to report to the nearest Zimbabwe Republic Police station.
 Warning to Parents
Inspector Msebele urged mothers and caregivers to exercise extreme caution when interacting with strangers on social media platforms and warned against sharing personal details or home locations online.
