Zimbabwe's government has introduced new limits on ZIMSEC exam registrations, capping Ordinary Level candidates at nine subjects and Advanced Level candidates at three. Schools have been instructed to refund fees for subjects exceeding these limits. The move aims to promote focused learning, improve performance, and align assessments with the Heritage-Based Curriculum .


The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's Director of Communications and Advocacy, Taungana Ndoro, confirmed that candidates who paid for extra subjects will be refunded. The policy change addresses concerns about students registering for too many subjects, which risked compromising quality and encouraging surface learning .

The registration deadline for November 2026 public exams is March 27
