A Harare man who filmed and shared a viral video of a science teacher cooking sadza in the central business district is now demanding 50 percent of the donations the teacher has received.
The man claims he deserves a share because his decision to film and publicize the video brought the teacher's story to public attention.
The video, which circulated widely on social media this week, shows Mr Chikwava, a science teacher, preparing and selling sadza at Copacabana in Harare as a way to earn a living and support his family. Following the viral clip, the teacher reportedly received more than US$4,000 in donations from well-wishers moved by his situation.
Mr Chikwava has been selling sadza at the location for the past two years while caring for his 24-year-old son, who lives with epilepsy and is both deaf and unable to speak.
The man who recorded the video argues that because he helped bring the teacher's situation to the public's attention, he deserves a portion of the financial assistance the teacher has received
