Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star Khama Billiat is embroiled in a financial controversy, accused of owing a leading South African bank approximately R400,000. The Zimbabwean international allegedly defaulted on an overdraft credit facility granted to him in 2020.

The debt, which reportedly grew from an original amount to over R370,000, has been accumulating, with Billiat last making payments in 2023. He was expected to pay monthly instalments ranging between R80,000 and R90,000, but his failure to do so has forced the bank to consider legal action to recover the money.

Billiat's relocation to Zimbabwe has complicated matters, with court sheriffs struggling to serve him with legal documents. This is not the first time the former football star has faced financial troubles, as he was previously taken to court over missed bond repayments on his Midrand property, which was later auctioned to recover a loan of about R1.7 million.
