Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca told reporters the Blues are “still in the mix” but refused to jump on the title bandwagon, insisting any realistic assessment will only come “if we’re where we are in February‑March.” “Right now we’re competing, we’re good,” he said, “but January and February bring many games—so we need to arrive at March and then set the target.”

Maresca will be watching Saturday’s Aston Villa showdown from the stands after racking up three suspensions (one celebration, two yellows). “I’ll be in the stands, but Willy Caballero and Danny Walker are here, the coaching staff is here,” he explained, adding that the ban doesn’t hamper his ability to convey instructions.

On the squad, Maresca ruled out trading Cole Palmer for Morgan Rogers: “No. Why? Because I love Cole and Cole is my player.” He also suggested former boss Thomas Tuchel could benefit from watching Palmer, noting “it’s a good option for Thomas, but ultimately it’s his decision.”

The Italian coach brushed off speculation about striker Antoine Semenyo, stating his sole focus is Villa: “I’m focused on Aston Villa. I’m not focused on players that can arrive or leave. The only focus for me at this moment is the Aston Villa game—a tough fixture against a fantastic opponent.”

Chelsea sit just seven points behind third‑placed Villa, and Maresca confirmed both Estevão Willian and Liam Delap are back in the fold, ready to add depth for the Bridge clash.
