The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has launched a new national programme to promote and reward academic excellence across the education system. Announcing the initiative on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Minister Torerayi Moyo said the Ministry will recognize and award the Top 10 best-performing schools in each province based on their 2025 results at Grade 7, Ordinary Level, and Advanced Level.
"This recognition is a celebration of high-performing schools that have consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to academic achievement and the holistic development of learners in the provision of equitable, inclusive and quality education in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4," Moyo said.
The Ministry will also identify the top 5 best-performing schools in the 2025 Zimbabwe School Examinations Council and Cambridge examinations and reward them accordingly on March 20, 2026. These schools will serve as beacons of excellence and inspiration for others across the country, setting a benchmark for quality education and academic performance.
Moyo encouraged individuals, well-wishers, companies, and development partners to support the initiative and contribute towards motivating hardworking teachers and headmasters. Anyone wishing to contribute can contact the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education through official communication channels.
