A 26-year-old Epworth woman, Hazel Makuyana, was arrested for allegedly killing her five-year-old son, Mukudzeyi Makuyana, after a domestic dispute. Makuyana reportedly forced her son to swallow rat poison during an argument with her husband, Talent Nyakuwawa, over her contact with her ex-husband.
The child died at Parirenyatwa Hospital, and Makuyana was arrested after being lured to the hospital. She admitted to administering the poison and claimed she also tried to take her own life. Police are investigating the incident.
