In a thrilling finale of the National Championships in Gastronomy held at the Heritage Village in Harare, Nhlanhla Primary School from Insiza District, Matabeleland South, emerged victorious in the Xhosa category. The school's pupils showcased exceptional culinary skills and cultural knowledge, edging out Maqaqeni Primary School from Umguza District, Matabeleland North, by a narrow margin of three points, with a score of 220-217.


The competition, which aims to promote indigenous African culture and heritage-based education, saw winners from all 10 provinces converge at the Heritage Village to compete for the top prize. The event highlights the importance of preserving and celebrating Zimbabwe's rich cultural heritage.

In a separate category, Makwasa Primary School from Mutasa District, Manicaland Province, was declared the winner of the National Gastronomy Prize in the Sign Language category, beating out eight other schools.

The First Lady's Schools Heritage Game Reality Show continues to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and knowledge in various cultural disciplines. The competition's organizers have announced that more prize winners will be announced in the coming days.
