Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, Zimbabwe's largest referral hospital, faced severe disruptions on Monday as nurses downed tools, demanding salary increments and better working conditions. The protest, which comes days after a similar strike at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, left patients stranded and wards deserted .

Nurses cited unbearable working conditions, including low salaries, inadequate transport allowances, and poor night duty pay. "I'm ashamed to mention I'm a nurse," one nurse said, highlighting the struggle to afford basic necessities like food and education for their children.

The Health Service Commission acknowledged the nurses' concerns, urging them to submit their demands in writing. However, the nurses' plea for urgent attention remains unmet, with patients bearing the brunt of the disruption .
