A pilot died after a small aircraft crashed in a mountainous area between Zaka and Bikita districts in Masvingo province. The pilot's wife survived the crash but suffered severe leg injuries.

The plane caught fire on impact in Nyoka Village, about 85km southeast of Masvingo. Witnesses said the aircraft was broken into pieces, with the fuselage engulfed in flames.

Investigators from the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe are probing the crash. The couple's nationality is unclear, though some locals claim they are Australians.
