Chinhoyi– Reverend Dr. Obediah Musindo, founder of Destiny of Afrika Network (DANet), has slammed the continued vilification of Zimbabwean entrepreneurs, calling for a national shift in mindset to celebrate success rather than diminish it.
Speaking at a pastors' meeting attended by over 180 church leaders and chaplains from the security sector, Dr. Musindo condemned the derogatory term “Zvigananda”, often used to discredit businesspeople based on alleged political ties.
He highlighted prominent entrepreneurs such as Dr. Kuda Tagwirei, Sir Wicknell Chivayo, and Econet founder Strive Masiyiwa as examples of individuals whose hard work and innovation have positively impacted Zimbabwe’s economy.
“These are people who’ve created jobs, spearheaded innovation, and opened up new industries. Instead of tearing them down, we should be learning from them,” Dr. Musindo said.
He emphasised the need for Zimbabweans to support and appreciate local success stories, regardless of political alignment, warning that continued stereotyping only stifles progress.
Dr. Musindo believes fostering a culture that respects and uplifts entrepreneurs will be key to economic growth, job creation, and national development.
“This is not just about defending individuals — it's about building a future where entrepreneurship is valued and celebrated,” he said.
