A 21-year-old suspected armed robber was arrested in Harare after a hijacked vehicle he was driving crashed. Tendai Gurupira and two accomplices had hijacked a Mercedes-Benz at gunpoint on Chiremba Road, but their getaway was cut short.
According to police, Gurupira was apprehended after the stolen vehicle was involved in an accident on Dunmore Road. The driver, who had been forced out of his car, reported the incident, leading to Gurupira's arrest.
Police Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, saying two accomplices are still at large. The ZRP is investigating the case and urges anyone with information to come forward. Gurupira faces charges of robbery and related offenses.
