Patience Mapfumo, a former Rujeko Primary School Development Committee chairwoman, lost a US$15,000 lawsuit against Josiah Mboko, a parent she accused of defamation. Mapfumo, a vendor and Zanu PF supporter, alleged Mboko posted defamatory messages about her in a parents' WhatsApp group, claiming she had slept with a senior teacher.
Masvingo magistrate ruled that Mapfumo failed to prove defamation, citing lack of evidence and contradictory witness testimonies. The case was dismissed. Mapfumo was ousted from the SDC executive in recent elections.
