The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has confirmed that Harare Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume has not been arrested, contrary to earlier reports. Instead, he was invited for questioning as part of ongoing investigations.

ZACC Commissioner Kindness Paradza confirmed the arrest of former Harare South MP Shadreck Mashayamombe and Harare Deputy Mayor Rosemary Muronda. Mashayamombe is facing fraud charges, while Muronda faces criminal abuse of office related to the alleged illegal sale of council land.

According to ZACC, two other senior council officials are still at large, but the commission is working to apprehend them. Paradza said, "The mayor was called in for questioning and was allowed to go home. He was not arrested."

In a statement, ZACC confirmed the arrests of Muronda and Mashayamombe, stating that they will appear in court soon. The commission is continuing its investigations into the matter.

The ZACC is urging anyone with information about the alleged corruption to come forward and assist with the investigations
