Fourteen people have died in a road Traffic accident involving a Malawi bound Luxury Coaches bus that happened along Harare Nyamapanda Highway near Suswe Business centre.The police have confirmed.


Posting on their X Account , the police said, the accident occurred at the 176km peg at around 1:00pm, according to an initial report from the Zimbabwe Republic Police [ZRP]. The BRD Luxury Coach bus was travelling from Cape Town, South Africa, to Malawi with 63 passengers on board when the crash happened. Follow us on WhatsApp

ZRP officers who attended the scene said 14 people were confirmed dead on site. Several injured passengers were transported to Mutoko District Hospital and Kotwa District Hospital for medical treatment.

The cause of the accident is yet to be established, and police have not released the identities of the deceased. Investigations are ongoing.

“The ZRP will release more details in due course,” the statement said.

The Harare-Nyamapanda road is a major regional route linking Zimbabwe with Mozambique and Malawi, and fatal accidents along the stretch have been a recurring concern for authorities.
