Cape Verde drew with Spain on the 15th of June 2026 in the FIFA World Cup opening match of Group H, as it was their first World Cup in history. The Blue Side made history on the world stage after drawing with the Red Fury.

Spain started the match with key players on the bench—Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams—hoping that the Red Fury boys would lead early. However, things went from bad to worse, and the key players were brought onto the pitch. Yamal came on in the 71st minute, replacing Gavi, and tried to encourage the Red Fury boys. The match became tense, and then in the 87th minute, Nico Williams replaced Rodri, and the team started to dominate.   Follow us on WhatsApp

It was too late for the Red Fury boys, as the Blue Side tried by all means to defend until the referee blew the final whistle, with both teams sharing one point.

Cape Verde is set to face Uruguay on Monday, 22 June 2026, with the Blue Side aiming to collect three points from Uruguay.
