HARARE – Betway Premiership side Scottland is pursuing a loan deal for Durban City right-back Emmanuel Jalai as the club builds its squad for the CAF Champions League in August, sources familiar with the discussions said.

No agreement has been finalised, but Jalai is understood to be among Scottland’s primary targets. Club owner Scott Sakupwanya is believed to be an admirer of the defender.

“Jalai is one of the top priorities Scottland are looking to bring on board. He has always been their target, with club owner Scott Sakupwanya believed to be an admirer,” a source said. “He could be on his way back to Zimbabwe on loan because of the partnership between Scottland and Durban City.”

The potential move is linked to a five-year partnership Scottland signed with Durban City in February. The agreement is reported to include provisions for player movement between the two clubs.

Jalai joined Durban City as a free agent in January after his contract with Dynamos expired. He signed a contract until 2027, with an option to extend to 2030.

Scottland is set to compete in the CAF Champions League in August and is targeting experienced reinforcements for its continental campaign.
