Kylian Mbappé drew level with Lionel Messi at the top of the 2026 World Cup scoring charts after netting a brace in France’s 3-0 win over Sweden in the Round of 32 on Tuesday.
The France captain now has six goals at the tournament, tied with Messi for the Golden Boot lead. Mbappé’s double also took his overall World Cup tally to 18, leaving him one short of Messi’s all-time record of 19.
While Mbappé grabbed the headlines, Michael Olise continued to pull the strings for Les Bleus. The midfielder has five assists in four appearances, making him the tournament’s leading playmaker.
France will face Paraguay in the Round of 16 on July 4 at Philadelphia Stadium.
With Mbappé chasing history and Olise dictating play, France’s dynamic duo is lighting up the global stage.
