Sungura star Alick Macheso has thanked businessman Wicknell Chivayo after receiving a 2026 Toyota Fortuner GD-6 and US$10,000 in cash following a recent road accident.

The gesture extends beyond the musician. Macheso’s manager will receive a Toyota Aqua and US$2,000 for fuel, while five Orchestra Mberikwazvo band members and three dancers are each set to get a Toyota Aqua and US$2,000.

The gifts come after Macheso was involved in an accident over a week ago while travelling from Mutoko. He was driving a Toyota Fortuner at the time and escaped unharmed.

Chivayo, who spoke to Macheso via video call after the crash, later learnt that the damaged vehicle was the musician’s personal SUV, not the Mercedes-Benz GLE 400d he gifted him in March 2024.

“With a heart full of gratitude, my family, my colleagues, our supporters and I raise our hands and say thank you very much, Sir Wicknell Chivayo,” Macheso said.

“You have lifted us and shown us great love through the gift of a car and cash. These are not just gifts, but a sign of a generous heart that sees and appreciates the work of others.”

He added: “Our joy is beyond words. We were especially delighted to learn that some of our band members will also receive cars and money in the coming weeks. It is a sign that you are not lifting just one person, but the entire Orchestra Mberikwazvo family.”

Macheso wished Chivayo good health and continued blessings.

“May your hand never tire of giving, and may God multiply your blessings because of your generous heart,” he said
